CONYERS - The superintendent of schools is once again seeking input from the community.
Rockdale County Public Schools Superintendent Samuel King will hold his biannual Community Forum from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rockdale Career Academy, located at 1064 Culpepper Drive. "The community forums give us an additional opportunity to communicate and interact with our stakeholders," King said in a prepared statement. King will kick off the forum by addressing current events and giving an update of the school system. Afterward, those in attendance will split into groups to discuss such topics as safe and orderly schools, communications and student achievement. School administrators and other RCPS personnel will serve as facilitators for each group. Following the round table discussions, each group will have an opportunity to ask the superintendent and his cabinet members questions during a brief panel discussion. "The panel discussion at the end of the meeting provides meaningful dialogue and immediate feedback to participants," King said. The meeting is open to RCPS parents, middle and high school students and other community members. Director of Community Relations Cindy Ball said attendance has averaged between 150 and 200 attendants for the past few years that the school system has held these forums. However, she said, King hopes attendance increases for this semester's event. "We know it's a busy time of year for everybody, but communication is very important to us," Ball said.
