Piedmont competes in math

Piedmont Academy participated in the Middle Georgia MATHCOUNTS competition on February 13 at Macon State College.

Fifteen schools and 99 students competed. Several teams and individual competitors will now advance to the state MATHCOUNTS competition on March 21 at Zoo Atlanta. The Piedmont team included Austin Bass, Lanie King, Reed Lewis, Mills Smith and Glade Tuggle.

Celebrating its 26th anniversary, MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide math enrichment, coaching and competition program designed to improve math skills among U.S. students. Over 6 million students across the U.S. have participated in the MATHCOUNTS program.

The Middle Georgia program is sponsored by the Middle Georgia Chapter of the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers. The Founding Sponsors of MATHCOUNTS are the National Society of Professional Engineers, the CNA Foundation and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
