COVINGTON - The Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce will be rocking this summer with its annual beach concert.
Tickets are on sale now for the concert, which will take place Aug. 1 and will feature a performance by A1A, a Jimmy Buffet cover band from Atlanta. The group plays classic rock, acoustic, blues and beach music and is the only Jimmy Buffet cover band endorsed by the entertainer. This is the second year A1A will be performing. The concert, which will take place at The Church at Covington located at 11975 Ga. Highway 142 N., is one of the Chamber's three annual fundraisers. The purpose of these fund-raisers is to help the Chamber keep dues low, said Lisa Oglesby, director of programs for the Chamber. "Compared to surrounding areas, we have the lowest dues," she said. Concert-goers are free to bring their own food, beverages, blankets and chairs. Tables larger than 36 inches by 36 inches are not allowed. There will also be food for sale at a concession stand. For the first time, the venue is opening up to outside food vendors. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert starts at 7 p.m. To buy tickets or for more information, call the Chamber at 770-786-7510, stop by 2101 Clark St. or visit www.newtonchamber.com. Tickets are $25 per person and $40 for couples. As a special offer, couples tickets purchased before July 4 are $30. In order to redeem tickets at this price, use the reference code NewCitizen2009. Tickets cannot be reserved for later purchase.More like this story
