Mullins Letter - 07/31/09

It should be obvious to any informed and open-minded citizen that our president and Congress are miserably failing to abide by their oath of office, paraphrasing - "to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; to bear true faith and allegiance to the same; taking the obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; to faithfully discharge the duties of the office they are entering." What I have seen thus far raises more questions about the motives of both the president and Congress.

Today, we are virtual prisoners in a country that began with the people giving those who govern us orders. Now, government is giving the people orders, in direct contradiction with the Constitution, and repeated warnings of the founders. Over the years we have been slowly transformed into a socialistic society where industry is privately owned, but regulated (controlled) by government.

This administration has us on the road to outright Communism where government owns, or is co-owner of industry and thereby regulates (controls) the distribution of the products of industry. Considering the actions of this president, one can easily conclude that his ultimate motive is to bring mighty America down to the level of Third World countries. That would seem to fit the meaning of slavery, defined as involuntary servitude. We the people are told that we have bought 60 percent of General Motors, using our taxes, without our consent. If our stock broker told us he had bought stock in a company facing bankruptcy we would immediately fire him. It seems the more we learn about this president, the more his patriotism becomes suspect, and much of the electorate either lacks the perceptual sense to recognize it, or, their loyalty is being bought with some "benefit" (today called entitlement) from government that they haven't earned. This brings to mind these words by Goethe, "no one is more enslaved than he who believes he is free when he is not." And it is happening as Kruschev predicted in 1962, "without firing a shot."

Perhaps the president envisions a one-world government with him as dictator, fulfilling the prophecy often attributed to Sir Alex Fraser Tytler in 1801. Quote, "A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury. From that time on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the results that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship." Passage of the Health Care Bill, as currently proposed, will confirm the stage of dependency in the rise and fall of every great nation in history. The next step is bondage. Are we there yet?
