Everybody's a winner

Shown here are many of the students who were winners of the free-throw contest at the Back-to-School Bash on the Square on Sunday, along with Newton Rams basketball players. The basketball players manned the free-throw contest booth, to the delight of one and all. "My team and I had a great time sharing our love of basketball with younger students. I was particularly glad my players could be a part of it and give back to the community and mentor to younger kids, even possibly aspiring hoops players. We hope to be part of it again next year," Newton Rams Head Coach Rick Rasmussen said. There were four levels for the contest: PreK-1st grade; 2nd-3rd; 4th-5th; and 6th-8th. There were winners for both boys and girls in each division. First prize winners received a basketball, while second place in each category received a coupon from Scoops. Pictured are, front row, Jaden Blackwell, Josh Sims, Jadden Mitchell, Jessica Darrington and Ronday Henderson. In center row are Nick Womack, Cade Lackey, Whitney Darrington, Demyra Rudden and Quanshekah Hardge.
