Eagles' McGowan commits to Kennesaw State baseball
Collins Hill's Chris McGowan has committed to play baseball at Kennesaw State.
The rising senior hit .361 with six home runs and 23 RBIs as a junior for the Eagles. He is the son of Bob and Laura McGowan.
Berkmar to host parent-player football meeting
Berkmar head football coach John Thompson will have a mandatory parent-player meeting on Monday at 7 p.m. at the field house.
Thrashers re-sign Armstrong
ATLANTA - The Atlanta Thrashers have agreed to a new deal with restricted free agent forward Colby Armstrong, one day after the team announced it has re-signed goalie Kari Lehtonen.
Armstrong, 26, matched his career high with 40 points while playing in all 82 games for the Thrashers last season. He set a career high with 22 goals. The right wing has 51 points (26 goals, 25 assists) in 100 games over two seasons with the Thrashers.
He began his NHL career with Pittsburgh, where he recorded one assist in five Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Harrell headed to CFL
REGINA, Saskatchewan - Graham Harrell is headed to the CFL.
The record-setting Texas Tech quarterback signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Thursday.
Harrell is the NCAA Division I career leader in touchdown passes but wasn't drafted by the NFL. His workout with the Cleveland Browns did not result in a contract.
