EMC meeting set for Thur.
Snapping Shoals gathering planned at horse park

CONYERS - Snapping Shoals EMC will hold its 71st annual meeting on Thursday at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers.

Registration and activities will begin at 10 a.m. and all Snapping Shoals customers are invited to attend.

Along with the usual bucket full of goodies handed out at registration, participants can register for several drawings. This year, the grand prize is a 2003 Ford Ranger that is being retired from the Snapping Shoals fleet.

Other prizes include a color television, DVD player and microwave oven.

In addition, the oldest married couple - determined by adding the ages of both spouses - will receive a $100 credit on their Snapping Shoals power bill.

To be eligible to win a prize, the entrant must be a Snapping Shoals EMC member, be registered at the meeting and be present for the drawings.

A health fair and children's games will be among the activities in and around the Charles Walker Arena at the Horse Park. Snapping Shoals will provide free soft drinks and snow cones and food will be available for purchase.

Registration will close at 1:15 p.m., and the business session will begin at 1:30 p.m., when the new Board of Directors will be elected.

Between 1,500 and 2,000 people attend the meeting annually, according to Snapping Shoals Spokeswoman Leigh-Anne Burgess.

"It gives them an opportunity to make their voices heard in regards to the business of the co-op, which is owned by our members," she said.

The Horse Park is located at 1996 Centennial Olympic Parkway, off of Ga. Highway 138 and about 4 miles north of Interstate 20. An alternate route is to travel north from the Salem Road exit off I-20. After about a mile, make a right onto Gees Mill Road to the Horse Park. Free parking is available.
