Chamber of Commerce hosting casino night fundraiser

COVINGTON - If the fun of gambling without the worry of going home with an empty wallet is appealing, you might want to purchase a ticket to the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce's Casino Night.

The event is scheduled for Feb. 28 at 14230 Lochridge Industrial Parkway and will feature risk-free gaming like craps, poker, blackjack and roulette.

Each guest will receive $5,000 in play money, heavy hors d'oeurves, four drink tickets and three hours of gambling time with each ticket purchased.

The event is one of three fundraisers hosted by the Chamber annually. Money raised goes toward paying operating expenses and helps keeps dues for members low, said Lisa Oglesby, director of programs.

Oglesby said the Chamber has managed to keep dues lower than chambers in surrounding counties.

She encouraged the public to come out and support a worthy cause.

"They should support the Chamber because it's one of the only entities that brings in new businesses and helps support local businesses that help your tax base, to help grow the economy to get us back stable," she said.

Doors for Casino Night will open at 6:30 p.m., with gaming to begin at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $50 each or $75 per couple and can be purchased at the Chamber, located at 2101 Clark St., or online at www.newtonchamber.com.

Gaming table sponsorships and event sponsorships are also available. Prices vary depending on the level of sponsorship.
