COVINGTON - Three armed men robbed Bailey's BP station at the intersection of Ga. highways 81 and 162 around 11 p.m. Monday night, according to the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
NCSO spokesman Lt. Mark Mitchell said the clerk told deputies three black men entered the store and brandished "what appeared to be a shotgun" at her and demanded money from the cash drawer. Mitchell said the clerk complied with the men's request and they fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. "They were last seen traveling south toward Highway 162 in a dark-colored, two-door compact car," he said. The man with the shotgun was described as wearing a black and white jacket. The second suspect was said to be wearing a gray or charcoal-colored hooded sweatshirt, khaki shorts and white socks. The third suspect had on a black hoodie, blue jeans and appeared to be wearing gloves. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the NCSO at 678-625-1400.
