The chilly and rainy day may have discouraged many from attending the second annual Walk By Faith Saturday, but it didn't dampen the spirits of those who were there.
The Walk By Faith was held to commemorate the Emancipation Proclamation, which went into effect Jan. 1, 1863. Residents in Rockdale and Newton counties gathered at the Salem Gate Shopping Center about 9:30 a.m., where they donated canned food for Rockdale Emergency Relief. The participants then walked a little over a mile along Iris Drive to Church In The Now, where a worship service concluded the event.
