Lady Eagles get shutout over Morgan County
MADISON - The Eastside Lady Eagles got their second shutout and their first mercy-rule win of the season with a 10-0 victory over Morgan County on Tuesday. Amber LaFond and Ashton Ziadie scored five goals each with Tara Harrison getting two assist. The Lady Eagles shortened the first half after making it 6-0 before ending the game with 11 minutes left on the clock on a Ziadie goal. LaFond scored the first, third, fourth, sixth and seventh goal with Ziadie putting in the rest. "We worked together better than we have all year," Eastside coach Libba Willcox said. Lady Tigers beat Newton 4-1 COVINGTON - The Lady Tigers had two singles and two doubles wins in their 4-1 win over the Newton girls Tuesday. Leah Anderson defeated Holly Springer 8-2 at No. 1 singles while Mary Ruth Davis bested Desiree Hines 8-3 at No. 3 singles. In doubles action, the No. 1 team of Jordan Shull and Stephanie Waits downed Ashana Thaker and Alicia King 8-6 with Mary Wright and Ali Wardingley beating India Green and Covida Austin 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. Newton's only win was an 8-4 win by No. 2 singles player Christine Augusta over Regan Bowers.More like this story
