COVINGTON - A 13-year-old girl was killed in a one-car crash just before noon Saturday on Spring Road in Newton County, just east of the Rockdale County line.
According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper B. Marx, the girl was a passenger in an eastbound Chevrolet Malibu driven by her 19-year-old brother. "The car dropped off the shoulder of the road, he over-corrected ... hit an embankment and the 13-year-old was ejected and the car rolled on top of her," Marx said. The trooper said speed was a factor in the crash, but no charges are anticipated at this time. The 13-year-old was not wearing a seat belt, he said.More like this story
