Dr. Leslie Lathem, right, gives "Georgia" a rabies vaccination last week at a mobile clinic in Porterdale. The clinic was offered as part of Porterdale's effort to have every pet in the city limits registered at City Hall. In order to be registered, pet owners must present current rabies certification and pay a $5 fee. All pets must be registered within 60 days of the date the ordinance takes effect, which is March 1. The vaccination clinic will return to Porterdale on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vaccinations cost $10 each. Shown helping Dr. Lathem are Nancy Naya, left, who spearheaded the effort to improve animal control enforcement in Porterdale, and Dawn Taylor, who brought the chocolate Lab to the clinic.More like this story
