WINDER - Both the Rockdale and Heritage boys basketball teams extended their seasons Saturday evening after winning their opening round games in the 8-AAAA tournament at Winder-Barrow High School.
The wins mean both qualify for the state tournament. Rockdale edged Madison County 61-58 in overtime, while Heritage blasted Apalachee 56-39. Sophomore Kevin Ware led the Bulldogs with 14 points, including five blocked shots. Heritage sophomore Miles Harris scored a game-high 20 points, including five 3-pointers. Play resumes on Tuesday. Rockdale will battle Clarke Central at 5:30 p.m., while Heritage takes on the winner of Winder-Barrow and Loganville at 8:30 p.m. See Tuesday's edition of The Citizen for more coverage.More like this story
