Eisenman, Roberson win swimming titles
Heritage champ sets new state, pool records in boys 50 freestyle

ATLANTA - Heritage's Nathanael Eisenman set a new state and pool record in the boys 50 yard freestyle with a time of 20.46 seconds, claiming a state title in the event Saturday in the Class AAAA/AAA/AA/A swimming finals at Westminster.

The Patriots' Brett Roberson also won a state title. He was the best in the boys 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.22. Eastside's Drew Ellwanger came in second with a time of 58.72.

Roberson also earned a second-place finish in the boys 200 individual medley with a time of 1:52.10, slightly behind state champion Ben Bondurant of Westminster. Eisenman as well earned a runner-up finish in the boys 100 freestyle with a time of 46.24.

The Heritage boys team came in 10th overall behind state champion Marist, which also won the overall girls title.

Greater Atlanta Christian's Will Freeman made a big splash on Saturday. The GAC junior won the boys 500 freestyle championship in 4 minutes, 19.32 seconds, breaking state, pool and national private school records with the effort. He shaved almost nine seconds off the previous state mark, set at 4:28.18 by Parkview's John Millen in 2003.

Freeman also had a runner-up finish in the 200 free in 1:39.13.

GAC finished as the top Class AA point-scorer in boys at 113 and in seventh place overall. Wesleyan's boys were sixth at 115, but ranked first among Class A schools.

In girls competition, GAC was the top AA scorer in fourth place at 198 points. Wesleyan finished eighth, first among Class A programs.

Loganville's Doug Reynolds finished third in both the 50 and 100 free races.
