Mill Creek's Steinocher signs with West Florida
Megan Steinocher, a senior at Mill Creek, has signed a letter of intent with the University of West Florida cross country program. She is the daughter of Frank and Lisa Steinocher.
Steinocher, a two-time team captain who ranks in the top six percent of her class academically, finished 35th in Class AAAAA at last fall's state cross country meet. She will receive both academic and athletic scholarship money from West Florida.
Fallon called up to Rockford
Gwinnett Gladiators goaltender Joe Fallon was reassigned to the Rockford Ice Hogs of the AHL on Thursday.
Fallon returns to Rockford where he has appeared in one game this season.
A rookie out of the University of Vermont, Fallon appeared in 13 games this season with the Fresno Falcons with a 2.57 goals against average and a .911 save percentage before being reassigned to Gwinnett on Dec. 26.
Fallon has skated in 10 games with the Gladiators.
The Chicago Blackhawks prospect has a 5-4-1 record and a .910 save percentage with Gwinnett.
Central football hosts golf tourney
Central Gwinnett's Touchdown Club will host its sixth annual fundraiser golf tournament Friday, April 3 at the Georgia Club in Statham. The event has a 2 p.m. shotgun start.

Greene, Donnan to appear at home and garden show
Former Georgia quarterback David Greene and coach Jim Donnan will be available for autographs and photos at the upcoming Georgia Home and Garden Show at the Gwinnett Civic Center. The two will be at the Team Pest USA Booth.
Greene will attend Saturday and Donnan will be there Sunday.
Chicago, Tokyo bid for 2016 Summer Games
LAUSANNE, Switzerland - Chicago and Tokyo submitted their official bid books to the International Olympic Committee on Thursday for the 2016 Summer Games.
Madrid and Rio de Janeiro delivered their documents on Wednesday as all four candidates met the deadline of midnight Thursday.
Chicago's book was delivered by Stuart Owen Rankin, grandson of Olympic great Jesse Owens, winner of four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Games. The 42-year-old Rankin also visited the Olympic museum where his grandfather's running shoes are displayed.
Chicago is aiming to bring the Summer Olympics to the U.S. for the first time since the 1996 Atlanta Games.
