Services planned for teen

COVINGTON - After a week of grieving for the loss of their friend, son and brother, those who knew Terry Jerome "T.J." Dorsey II, a senior from Newton High School who was accidentally shot and killed early Sunday morning, will say goodbye this week.

A candlelight vigil and funeral services have been set for the 17-year-old Covington resident who was shot in the back while riding east on Interstate 20 in Rockdale County with four other teens.

According to the Newton County School System, the Newton High School Senior Class of 2009 is holding a candlelight vigil at 6:30 p.m. today in the school's visitor parking lot. Guests are asked to park in the lower parking lot between Porterdale Elementary School and the NHS gym.

Students also will set up a donation jar for guests to make donations to help Dorsey's family with funeral expenses. He is survived by his father Terry Dorsey I and mother and stepfather Danyette and Reginald Watson, five sisters and many other relatives and friends, according to his obituary on the Grissom-Clark Funeral Home's Web site, www.grissom-clarkfh.com.

Additionally, funeral services are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Saturday at his church, the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, which is located at 4650 Flat Shoals Road in Decatur. The phone number for the location is 404-243-5020.
