Chamber funds get a boost

COVINGTON -- The City Council approved by a vote of 5-1 Monday night an increase in its appropriation to the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce for economic development services.

Social Circle considers drag strip complex

SOCIAL CIRCLE -- Newton and Walton county residents will have an opportunity to weigh in on a proposed drag strip that could be built on more than 100 acres near U.S. Highway 278 and Interstate 20.

Schools, county owe back fees

COVINGTON -- Newton County and the Newton County Board of Education owe the city of Covington a combined $120,000 in stormwater utility fees for properties they own inside the city limits.

Rec Commission holds can drive, offers gym use

COVINGTON -- The Newton County Recreation Commission and The Miracle League of Newton County are holding a can drive through Dec. 21 to benefit the Covington-Newton County Community Food Pantry.
