Airport authority vote set

COVINGTON -- The City Council is expected to vote on the formation of an airport authority to oversee the Covington Municipal Airport at its Monday night meeting.The council has received a draft of the proposed local legislation that would be presented to the Georgia General Assembly for approval at its Dec. 21 meeting.

Airport re-opening delayed

COVINGTON -- The re-opening of the Covington Municipal Airport has been delayed for at least the fourth time. The new date set for the re-opening is Tuesday according to Transportation Manager Billy Skinner.

No Oak Hill after school program

COVINGTON -- Oak Hill Elementary School will not get an after school academic program -- at least not this school year.

COVINGTON -- Covington Fire Chief Don Floyd is joining state and national officials in urging that safety be foremost in the minds of those celebrating New Year's with fireworks.

One person dies in crash

COVINGTON -- Cpl. Shane Allen of Georgia State Patrol Post 46 said the only traffic fatality the post worked during the Christmas holiday period occurred Sunday morning around 7:15 on Ga. Highway 138, near the Forrester Cemetery Road intersection in Walton County.
