CONYERS -- A Covington man was recently sentenced to five years, two to be served in prison, after receiving three DUI charges since he became a licensed driver.
Vincent McBride, 40, pleaded guilty Dec. 9 before Rockdale County Chief Superior Court Judge Sidney Nation to charges resulting from an incident that occurred near the corner of Dogwood Drive and West Avenue in Conyers on June 14.
McBride's formal charges included two counts of driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane and no insurance.
McBride, who was declared a habitual violator Jan. 8, 2008, also faced a felony charge for habitually impaired driving and being a habitual violator.
Besides confinement, McBride was ordered to serve a year at the Rockdale House for Men, an alcohol rehabilitation facility in Conyers.
Chief public defender Steven Purvis said McBride really wanted the help and decided not to go to trial after looking over the evidence.
McBride will be on probation for two years for his misdemeanor charges and is not allowed to drive for the next seven years.
