COVINGTON -- It is commonplace for law enforcement agencies to remind shoppers this time of year to keep vehicle doors locked and packages out of sight while parked in mall and shopping center parking lots. The Newton County Sheriff's Office is also reminding residents to follow those same precautions while their cars are parked at home.

Man gets prison as habitual DUI violator

CONYERS -- A Covington man was recently sentenced to five years, two to be served in prison, after receiving three DUI charges since he became a licensed driver.

Man charged with drug possession

COVINGTON — A Conyers man was arrested on drug-related charges Dec. 16 after being observed by a Newton County Sheriff's Office deputy leaving an area in Covington where previous drug arrests have been made.

COVINGTON — Math and science students at Eastside High School now will have the opportunity to use some new equipment.
