"Why is Newton County attempting to give the Chamber of Commerce a $66,500 raise on their budget, when Newton County says they can't pay their employees for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Vest fund continues to grow

More than 250 individuals and groups have contributed to the fund established for the purchase of Level III bullet-proof vests for Newton County Sheriff's Office deputies. The fund currently stands at more than $62,000, not including funds recently received from the U.S. Department of Justice.

Residents riled over drag strip
