Newton County Sheriff Ezell Brown recently attended the Georgia Sheriffs' Association's Summer Training Conference in Greene County.
More than 100 chief law enforcement officers from around the state participated in the three-day event, which included multiple training sessions, timely information from state officials and the conducting of association business. Other highlights of the conference included the installation of 2009-10 officers. They are President Logan Marshall, McDuffie County sheriff; First Vice President Gene Pope, Butts County sheriff; Second Vice President Scott Berry, Oconee County sheriff; and Secretary-Treasurer Howard Sills, Putnam County sheriff. The Georgia Sheriffs' Association is comprised of 149 elected sheriffs with the support of more than 70,000 honorary members throughout the state who support the office of sheriff and the Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Homes.More like this story
