Wesleyan lacrosse players make boys all-state team Wesleyan was well-represented on the all-state lacrosse teams, including two coach of the year awards. Sam Walker was named coach of the year and Malcolm Anderson was named assistant coach of the year. Goalie Taylor Grice and long-pole midfielder Drew Bigalow were both first-team all-state selections. Attacker Davis Brown and midfielder Bobby Fulton made the second team, while defender Trent Collett was on the third team. Grice also received a big honor over the weekend, becoming the Wolves' first All-American lacrosse player. Lions' Jones, Mutakabbir to be honored at ceremony Peachtree Ridge will host a basketball signing ceremony today for seniors Khalid Mutakabbir and Darnell Jones. Mutakabbir will continue his career at Presbyterian, while Jones will play basketball for Savannah State. Dacula wins ninth-grade baseball tourney Dacula won the Greater Gwinnett Baseball League's ninth-grade tournament over the weekend, defeating Brookwood 4-3 in the finals. The Falcons beat Parkview 13-10 to reach the finals. Brandon Bartlett was the winning pitcher against Parkview, while Jacob Harrison recorded the save. Harrison also got the win in a complete-game effort vs. Brookwood. Morgan Loyd (four runs, two RBIs, double) and Chase Loyd (2-4, 3 RBIs, two-run homer) led the Dacula offense in the Parkview win. Rocky Capabianco (2-for-3) had the game-winning hit against Brookwood, driving in Chase Loyd. state Puleo leaves UGA for Vanderbilt NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Angela Puleo is leaving Georgia after being a two-year starter at guard for the Lady Bulldogs. She is heading back to her home state of Tennessee and transferring to Vanderbilt. Puleo said she really wanted to stay in the SEC and that Vanderbilt was her first choice. She will sit out the upcoming season but will have two years of eligibility left. national No. 1 pick Stafford on Letterman NEW YORK - Detroit Lions top pick Matthew Stafford appeared on Monday night's Late Show with David Letterman, reading the Top Ten list. The quarterback, who starred for three years at Georgia, was taken with the first pick by the Lions in the NFL draft Saturday. Stafford will try and help the Lions overcome the first 0-16 season in NFL history. 'If the Lions win one game this year, I'm a hero,' Stafford joked on the show.More like this story
