Rockdale tennis drops two to Loganville
CONYERS - Rockdale's tennis programs are entering the Region 8-AAAA tournament today on a low note after being swept by Loganville on Tuesday.
The boys lost 3-2 while the girls failed to win a set in a 5-0 decision.
Shoman Kasbekar, at No. 1 singles, beat Eveguinea Vinogrodov 6-2, 6-4 with Jensen Lauritsen, at No. 3 singles, giving Rockdale their other victory, besting Drew Watson 6-3, 6-2.
"We came out flat, and you can't do that against good teams, ever," Rockdale coach Stephen Sansing said. "For some reason, some of us thought that they were going to automatically lose, so they played like it. By the time they realized it was a winnable match, it was too late. Hopefully we can chalk it up to rust, but at some point they have to have the competitive edge to win matches that are winnable."
