COVINGTON - The Eastside volleyball squad (13-18 overall, 1-3 in Area 8-AAA) split a pair of matches Thursday, topping Jackson County (25-21, 17-25, 25-12) in an Area 8-AAA match before losing to Woodland-Henry (25-18, 27-25).
"The teams played exciting, crowd-pleasing games," Eastside coach Angie Lewis said. "We were happy to win the region match because we get a little better seed in the region tournament." Nia Mullins led the way for the Lady Eagles with nine kills, four aces and three blocks. Naomi Wills had a team-high seven aces and a team-high 12 digs. Katie Johnston added seven kills and Ashley Aycox chipped in six. "The Jackson games were good, and were very important to us, but the Woodland games were great," Lewis said. "Even though we lost that match, we came off the floor feeling like we'd won because we played more consistent and had better communication than we've had all season.More like this story
