Lady Bulldogs improve to 6-1 in Area play

The Rockdale volleyball squad split a pair of matches Tuesday, falling to Prince Avenue Christian 25-22, 27-25 before topping Loganville 25-23, 25-16.

Against Prince Avenue, Tayla Mitchell had nine kills, one block and one ace for the Lady Bulldogs (11-10 overall, 6-1 in 8-AAAA). Kelsey Girardot added three kills and two aces, while Chelsea Nunn had 13 assists and one ace.

"Prince Avenue tipped us to death," Rockdale coach Stephen Sansing said, "and we didn't adjust quick enough on defense to account for that."

Against Loganville, Girardot had seven kills and two aces. Mitchell and Lauren Stewart combined for six kills and five aces, while Nunn had 15 assists.

"We were much quicker and more vocal against Loganville," Sansing said, "and that allowed us to take control of the match. Loganville put us out of the region tournament last year, so it was nice to get a little revenge on them.

"This keeps us in the area race. We have to keep taking care of business."
