Health Reports 9/2/2008

The following food service establishment inspection reports were provided by the Environmental Health Division of the Rockdale County Health Department. Restaurants that score from 90 to 100 get a letter grade A; those that rate 80-89 get a B; a tally of 70-79 is a C; and below 70 is a U, or unacceptable. A restaurant scoring 70 or above is allowed to operate if there are no critical violations. If a facility is rated U on consecutive inspections, it must close and the owner must prove that it can be operated safely before reopening is allowed.

· Jenny's Country Cooking Cafe, 82-B, 1794 Industrial Blvd., Date: July 23

Violations: Handwash sink by grill line and handwash sink by prep sinks not supplied with paper towels. Salad dressing self-serve station not protected from cross-contamination. Several potentially hazardous food not holding at the correct temperature. Stored clean utensils not stored handle side up.

· The Sub Barn, 83-B, 2209 Old Covington Highway, Date: July 23

Violations: Employees not washing hands as required. Out-of-date milk stored in reach-in cooler. Employee with out proper restraint preparing food. Single-use container being reused for other products. Employee using same gloves for multiple tasks.

· Thai Palace, 96-A, 914 Commercial St., Conyers, Date: July 23

Violations: Water pitchers stored in ice maker. Ice scoop stored in ice maker.

· Greek Pizza House, 87-B, 911 North Main St., Conyers, Date: July 24

Violations: Employee observed not washing hands after touching trash can before going back to food prep. Goods in walk-in cooler not stored in approved container. Metal can of pineapple stored in reach-in cooler in original metal container with rust like debris inside of can. Mint slicer has debris buildup.

· O'Charley's, 38-U, 1289 Dogwood Drive, Conyers, Date: July 25

Violations: Person in charge not performing duties. Employee observed changing gloves without washing hands. Employees not observed washing hands as required. Employee drinks observed stored over food serving area and near clean utensils. Soiled utensils stored with food debris still attached. Food items not held at the proper temperature. Food items previously cooked not being cooled according to proper procedure. Prepared items not properly date marked as required. Toxic substance stored in unlabeled bottle. Sanitizer in bar three-compartment sink at improper strength. Sanitizer stored on prep table with food and equipment. Food item not in original container stored in unlabeled container. Cooked food requiring cooling stored in walk-in cooler not monitored for cooling temperature per procedure. Pan stored directly on sliced tomatoes. Employee without hair restraints observed preparing food. Soiled wiping cloths stored on tongs used for obtaining bread. Current inspection report not posted as required. Food service permit not posted in proper area. Not in compliance with Georgia Smoke Free Air Act. Ice scoop stored in ice at wait station. Spoon for dispensing cheese stored with handle in product. Wet utensils observed stacked on one another. Soiled utensils observed stored with clean utensils. Door gasket seals on drawer coolers need replacing. No back siphon device on flush wash hose. No drain plug in dumpster.

· Tasty Treats Italian Ice, 95-A, 1680 Ga. Highway 138, Conyers, Date: July 28

Violations: Paper towels and soap not provided at all handwash sinks. Covered trash containers not provided in restrooms. Ceiling tiles not correct material in restrooms.

· Hank & Jerry's Tavern, 89-B, 1504 Old Salem Road, Conyers, Date: July 28

Violations: Person in charge did not demonstrate knowledge. Items not properly date marked. Not in compliance with Georgia Smoke Free Air Act. Items intended for single use used for other products. Fryer basket deteriorating. Door gasket seal damaged.

· Papa's Country Buffet, 84-B, 1035 Sigman Road, Conyers, Date: July 29

Violations: Inadequate number of handwash sinks. Items in walk-in cooler not being held at the proper. Wet utensils observed stored stacked one on another. Fryer baskets deteriorating. Shelves in dry storage area need to be sealed and painted.
