Lauren Elizabeth and Steven Shane Cook were married June 14 at Lambert Place in Atlanta. Bill Coble and Daniel J. Cook officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Glen Buckalew of Gulfport, Miss. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Carol Guice of Hattiesburg, Miss., Dr. and Mrs. John Guice of Laurel, Miss., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lewis Buckalew of Hattiesburg. She is currently employed with Rockdale County Public Schools, as a speech language pathologist.
The groom is the son of Mr. Donny Cook of Covington and Mr. and Mrs. Rick and Christine Downie of Conyers. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank William Stokes, Mr. Frank Eugene Cook and Mrs. Geneva Cook Patton, all of Decatur. He is currently employed with A.G. Quality Trim as a construction manager.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless, A-line Maggie Sottero gown which featured a corset back and a chapel-length train. The lace bodice was gently ruched. Embellishments on the lace included Swarovski crystals, bugle beads, seed beads and sequins. Encircling the waist was a light gold ribbon sash accented with a brooch. She wore diamond earrings, a gift from the groom, and carried a bouquet of Black Magic and Black Baccara roses accented with dark red mini-calla lilies. An antique cross worn by her mother and her grandmother at their weddings was woven in the ivory ribbon holding the bouquet.
Maryellen Fox Kanode of Birmingham, Ala., served as the matron of honor. Olivia Buckalew Vernace of Jackson, Miss., cousin of the bride, and Erin Ayen Moon of Covington, friend of the bride, served as bridesmaids. The attendants wore floor-length black, strapless gowns accented with an ivory sash at the waist. They each carried bouquets of Black Magic roses and red tulips. Stems were caught with black satin ribbon. Program attendant was Ms. Morgan Sanders of Covington, niece of the groom.
Donny Cook of Covington, served as best man. Chuck McIntosh of Atlanta, and Shane Staples of Stockbridge, friends of the groom, served as groomsmen. Adam Buckalew of Jackson, Miss., brother of the bride, and Tyler Reed of McDonough, nephew of the groom, served as ushers.
Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted dinner and dancing at Lambert Place.
After a honeymoon trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple resides in Conyers.
