Members of the Newton County Home Builders Association (NCHBA) recently attended the fall board meeting of the Home Builders Association of Georgia (HBAG) in Sandestin, Fla.
While there, Newton County HBA members attended meetings focusing on government affairs, regulatory affairs, bylaws and policy, the Builders Political Action Fund the Associates Council and the Georgia Executive Officers Council.
Officers for 2009 were also sworn into office during the event. Kay Cantrell, formerly of Covington and a past president of HBAG as well as a member of the HBAG Builder Hall of Fame, presided over the installation of officers. The following officers will be representing HBAG in 2008-09:

· David Clough - Vice President
· Doug Tumlin - Treasurer
· Stanley Richardson - Secretary
· Doug Tumlin- Treasurer
· Carol Stone - Associate Vice President
Also, during the banquet, Newton County HBA's Executive Officer, Andrea Hammond, was sworn in as the President of the Georgia Executive Officers Council (GEOC). The GEOC consists of 39 HBA's in Georgia and the council serves as a resource for the Executive Officers providing education, mentoring and support.
As president, Hammond will be responsible for planning the programs for the GEOC meetings, assisting the locals with their association concerns and being the liaison between the executive officers and the senior officers of HBAG. The next meeting of the Home Builders Association of Georgia will be Feb. 16 to 18 in Atlanta in conjunction with the state legislative session.
