Traffic came to a standstill for more than an hour on Interstate 20 on Thursday afternoon following a one-vehicle crash. According to Newton County Sheriff's Office Lt. Bill Watterson, the driver of a White Ford Ranger pickup traveling eastbound between the Rockdale County line and Almon Road struck the median wall. Watterson said the truck overturned and the driver was ejected. He was in serious condition when he was airlifted to an Atlanta trauma center. Westbound lanes of the Interstate were halted to enable the air ambulance to land, causing further traffic delays. Traffic was backed up for miles in both directions.More like this story
