Georgia Southern junior outside linebacker Terrione Benefield recorded a career-high 13 tackles in the Eagles' 38-37 overtime loss to Wofford last Saturday in Statesboro.
Benefield, a Heritage product, finished the game with four solo stops and nine assists.
For the season, the junior ranks third on the Eagles in tackles with 34 total (15 solos and 19 assists) in four games. He also has broken up two passes.
Mathis catches TD in third straight game
Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Darius Mathis is on a roll for Alabama State.
The former Salem quarterback caught a touchdown pass for the third consecutive game in the Hornets' 47-7 victory over Mississippi Valley State in Montgomery, Ala., last Saturday.
Mathis pulled in a 5-yard scoring toss from quarterback Reid Herchenbach with 1:33 left in the first half, completing his squad's 40-point explosion in the first half.
The former Seminole finished the game with five catches for 44 yards. He now leads the team in receiving with 23 receptions for 285 yards and three TDs.
Ahonen leads Randolph-Macon in tackles with nine
Senior defensive back Scott Ahonen recorded a game-high nine tackles for
Randolph-Macon in its 32-20 victory over Catholic last Saturday in Ashland, Va.
The former Salem standout finished the game with seven solo stops and two assists. He also added one tackle for loss for minus-3 yards. The senior also broke up two passes.
After four games, Ahonen is leading the Yellow Jackets in tackles with 28 total stops (16 solos and 12 assists). He also has five broken-up passes, three tackles for loss, one interception and one fumble recovery.
Delamar returns strong for Georgia Perimeter
Sophomore Nicole Delamar is making up for lost time at Georgia Perimeter.
The former Rockdale player has registered four goals, including one on a penalty kick, and two assists since returning the midfield from a leg injury for the Lady Jaguars.
Turner scores again for North Georgia
Junior Katie Turner notched her fourth goal of the season in North Georgia's 6-1 victory over Lander College on Sept. 27 in Greenwood, S.C.
Turner scored unassisted at 31:21 of the first half to give the Lady Saints a 4-0 lead.
Turner has now scored four goals on 14 shots this season for the Lady Saints. She is tied for the team lead in goals and third on the team in scoring with eight points.
Hurd records two assists for Piedmont
Junior midfielder Caitlin Hurd recorded two assists in Piedmont College's 2-0 victory over LaGrange College on Sept. 30 in Demorest.
Hurd, a Salem product, also tallied an assist in Piedmont's 3-1 victory over Toccoa Falls.
In nine games for the Lady Lions, the junior has one goal and three assists.
