Police search for two women in bank robbery

CONYERS - Conyers Police Department investigators continue to search for two black women who robbed Wachovia Bank earlier this week.

Conyers Police Chief David Cathcart said the two women walked into the bank located near the intersection of Ga. Highway 138 and Old Salem Road about 4 p.m. Wednesday and presented the teller with a note demanding money.

The teller handed the women the cash, and they were last seen leaving the area in a green four-door sedan, according to the incident report.

Initially it was thought that the suspects were men because of the way they were dressed, Cathcart said, but "we were able to verify through witnesses they were females."

One suspect was described as being 5 feet, 5 inches tall weighing about 130 pounds. She was wearing a solid-colored Atlanta Braves baseball hat with a New Era sticker on the bill, a dark jacket with a hood, dark jeans with the pant legs rolled up and black tennis shoes.

The second suspect was described as being 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing about 250 pounds. She wore her hair in braids or dread locks that hung past the collar. She was wearing a black Florida Marlins baseball cap, a black leather or nylon jacket and black jeans, also with the cuffs rolled.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call CPD Sgt. Chris Moon at 770-929-4206.
