Shania Hardeman, a prekindergarten student at Mansfield Elementary School, drops her food into a trash can before placing her clean Styrofoam tray into a neat stack, which will be collected and taken to a Gwinnett County recycling center to be turned into pellets and used again. All elementary schools in Newton County kicked off the new foam tray recycling program Monday with assistance from parents, school system personnel, Keep Covington-Newton Beautiful workers and other community volunteers. The school system hopes to start a foam tray recycling program with its middle and high school students in January.More like this story
