Presbyterian College defender Rachel Lamb was awarded two Big South Athletic Conference honors at the conference's annual banquet.
The former Salem standout was selected as first-team Big South All-Conference as well as the Academic All-Conference squad. Lamb, a three-year starter, started all 17 games this season for the Lady Blue Hose. In a thrilling contest against Virginia Military Institute on Oct. 29, Lamb scored her first goal of the season. A biology major, Lamb holds a 3.66 GPA. The Lady Blue Hose ended their season victoriously against Charleston Southern 1-0 and tied for sixth in the conference. FOOTBALL Berry shines at wide receiver for Virginia St. Heritage product Brian Berry has turned in an outstanding season playing wide receiver for Virginia State University. The sophomore led the Trojans in receiving with 70 catches for 749 yards and three touchdowns. Berry also paced Virginia State in kickoff returns, returning 14 for a 27.4 yard average, which included a 95-yard return for a touchdown. The sophomore finished the season with 1,204 total yards for the Trojans, averaging 120.4 yards a game. Ahonen scores defensive TD for Randolph-Macon Senior defensive back Scott Ahonen scored a defensive touchdown on a 93-yard interception return in Randolph-Macon's 55-24 victory over Guilford. The former Salem standout also chipped in six total tackles in the victory for the Yellow Jackets. SOCCER Turner notches two goals for North Georgia In the regular season finale against Georgia Southwestern, North Georgia's Katie Turner scored twice in an 8-0 victory. The former Rockdale product's first goal was tallied in the last 12 seconds of the first half. She notched her second goal past GSW's keeper in the 69th minute to make it 7-0. In addition, she assisted a goal and had a total of five shots on goal Woodson scores in PBC Tournament Sophomore Jessica Woodson tallied a goal in Columbus State's 4-0 victory over Clayton State in the opening round of the Peach Belt Conference Women's Soccer Tournament. Woodson, a former Rockdale standout, gave the Lady Cougars a 1-0 in the fourth minute off a feed from Gian Goforth.
