As a way to bring attention to the need for early screening and detection of all types of cancer, Fairview Elementary School held a special event, Fairview Cancer Survivors Day, on Thursday to honor six staff members who have battled with cancer. All faculty and staff members and students wore pink Thursday to show support for the "Pink Ladies," as they call themselves. They also purchased pink ribbons with all proceeds going to the school's Relay for Life Team. In addition to the recognition, the school held a special luncheon for the women. They are, pictured left to right, (first row) Connie Jennings, kitchen staff; Judy Hardy, kindergarten paraprofessional; Shelley Yeatman, Pre-K teacher; (second row) Vickey Mathis, kindergarten paraprofessional; Melody Ingle, fourth-grade teacher; and Gail Brown, kindergarten teacher.
