"Regarding the husband being charged with raping his wife last week. Are you kidding me? What about; 'Cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh?' The dictionary defines rape as forced sexual relations against a person's will. By this definition, it is possible for a man to rape his wife? Why would a man want to rape his wife for that matter? Sounds to me like there's a number of issues between both the husband and the wife that need addressing! If you're going to jail for it, why not just rape the neighbor's wife? I got it, the assumption is made that all guilt falls on a rapist and one being raped is completely innocent, right? Unfortunately, powerful misguided domestic violence organizations have used their influence over the past 20 years to get their point across here in Rockdale County. And thanks to the arrival of feminism came the idea that a woman has full control over her body. If she doesn't want to have the child, they argue that she has the right to terminate the pregnancy because it is her body being used to nurture the child, right? If she doesn't want to have sex, then a husband does not have the right to request sex from her. However, these ideas are in direct contradiction to the plain teachings in I Corinthians 7. If a woman deliberately causes the harm then she was either abused, coerced or insane. However, the truth is that children and men are actually the victims in most domestic violence matters and women are perpetrators of the abuse. The media betrays only way around."

"Kudos to the poll workers over on Parker Road. I stopped in today to vote early and almost left because of the line (more than 100 were in front of me). I was in and out in 30 minutes and every worker there was friendly, courteous and efficient. It made a huge difference in the overall attitude of the crowd while having to wait and made the experience much more pleasant! Be sure to go by and vote early."

"To the person with the manhole trouble on Oakland Avenue: I am the Rockdale County manhole repairman, and I have been trying to get over to Oakland Avenue to repair the manhole. I have to heat up the manhole cover with a torch and bend them to fit the current slope of the actual manhole. This is a big process - we tried to spray a rubberized coating on the lips of the manholes to reduce noise, but that became very expensive and we couldn't budget the money for the rubber coatings. I have made a note to get over to Oakland and reshape the manhole cover so it won't make noise. Until then, we will place an orange cone over it to keep people from driving over the manhole. By the way, I had four brand-new manhole covers and 11 orange cones stolen off my truck last week by some thugs. If you see anyone riding around with manhole covers for their hubcaps, please call the Rockdale County Maintenance building ASAP. We need our covers back."

"After the ACORN scandal, how can anyone question having to show ID when voting? We need to know if someone is who they are claiming to be, don't we? Or is it so imperative that one candidate wins that we just throw all common sense to the side? I don't mind being asked to show my ID. In fact, I have it in my hand when I go in to vote. You should be proud to show that you are an American citizen and eligible to vote. Only those who have something to hide are complaining about this. It is a privilege and an honor to be an American citizen. Let's start acting that way! I for one am still proud to be an American and in God I still trust!"

"Having just read the article in which the school system is restricting Taser use on persons under 18, I have to ask, since when does the public school system make policy for our local police agencies? Dr. King has clearly overstepped his bounds! Our police agencies, both Conyers PD and the Rockdale SO, should not have to answer to any school board or to Dr. King about the use of force. What is next? Will Dr. King move to limit firearm use by the police, pepper spray, etc. The police have a job to do and need all the tools to do their job effectively. They do not need to have a school system that is creating policy limiting their actions as police officers. If the school system thinks it can do a better job, let them create their own police department ... otherwise stay out of law enforcement policy and decision-making!"

"Part of the business of the courts is to deter other persons from engaging in similar criminal conduct. Deterrence is eliminated if the public is not aware of the consequences of wrongful conduct. Maybe you can get that straight in your mind."

"Our house was shot up by our neighbor's son and we saw him do it. Not only our house, our dog also. We called Rockdale County out twice for it. Their answer to us was that we had to have a picture of him doing this. Come on now. What is our county coming to? Where is our law? If they are not going to help protect our property then this means we have to take matters into our own hands. I am not a betting person, but I would be willing to bet they would lock us up for taking matters into our hands. I am not talking about 8, 9, 10 or 12 years old. I am talking about a high school boy at least 16 years old. A young man who knows right from wrong. Well, the house has been fixed. Our dog's medical bill was taken care of, not by the young man or his parents. So now that everything has been taken care of and things are like new, we will have do our own protecting of our home and dogs. Then you ask why do people want to move out of Rockdale County? This is why."

"After reading Saturday's article titled 'Schools limit use of Tasers,' I was shocked. The school does not need to generate a policy to regulate issues on law enforcement. Law enforcement has plenty of oversight; from the agency heads, the internal affairs office, the public, the criminal justice system and finally, if needed, the civil court system. I am all in favor of the school system regulating their own employees, regarding the bringing of weapons onto school property. But last time I checked, the school system did not administer the oath to law enforcement officers. That task falls under law enforcement agency heads. The article states the city officer was issued a Taser as part of their standard issued equipment. The Taser is a less than lethal tool, utilized in gaining compliancy from an individual who is not complying to commands issued by those in the public trust. I know there are many individuals like me, who, when we attended school, would have thought of ever having a school resource officer in the building. What has changed? Maybe the public should request that the school resource officer no longer be physically placed in the schools and let the administration and Mr. (Tolbert) Morris handle the many disruptions. Have them dial 911 just like the rest of us, when law enforcement is needed. Let's see what would happen then! Word - Understand, Speak, and Keep. Will - Courage - Determination."

"Apparently Conyers has excess funds at a time when our entire country trying to economize. It's amazing that they decided to spend $500,000 for a property that has been for sale for over two years. Sounds like an inside job!"

"To the lady who wrote the article condemning Darrell Huckaby for his biased column published earlier in the Rockdale Citizen, I had Coach Huckaby as a teacher for AP U.S. History at Heritage High School. I can tell you he is by far one of the best teachers I had at the school, and he is probably the best one they now have left. He has proved himself by having one of the best passing rates for the AP U.S. History test in the nation over the past few years. I found that the best teachers I had are the ones that had an opinion and will be real with their students about what they think. Whether I agreed with them or not, they influenced me to think for myself and formulate my own ideals. And if you don't think your child can handle an opinionated teacher in high school, I advise you to tell him/her not to consider college because high school is only the beginning of opinionated educators. Every college professor will attempt to push their radical views upon your child. It sounds more to me like you are upset about Mr. Huckaby's actual views rather than him expressing them. If that is the case, it won't hurt your child if he/she has one educator who doesn't share your views."

"I love reading the Rockdale Citizen these days. More stories about local news/events and less news about the local thugs in court! Personally I do not believe taxpayers should be flipping the bill for our court to have a personal reporter. If they want their own TV show then they should retire and become Judge Judy. Shows the priority of our court. Toss a reporter in the mix and things aren't square. It diminishes the credibility of our court."
