College notebook: Chandler gains more honors for Lady Bobcats

Georgia State College and University junior pitcher Mandy Chandler has been named to first team of the Daktronics All-South Atlantic Region Team for the second time in her career.

In addition to this award, Chandler, a former Eastside standout, was recently named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-South Atlantic Region First Team.

Chandler is 25-8 this season with a 0.91 ERA in 230 1â "3 innings of work. She has 307 strikeouts, allowing opponents to hit just .148 against her this season.

The All-Peach Belt Conference selection led the league in wins, strikeouts and ERA this spring.


Lee finishes stellar first year at Georgia State

Georgia State lost to Towson in the Colonial Athletic Association championship, but that didn't stop freshman phenom Catherine Lee from tying two more CAA single-season records.

Lee tied the record for RBIs with 63 and runs scored with 51. The former Eagle finished the season with a .411 batting average with 69 hits, including 16 doubles, 17 home runs and a slugging percentage of .810.

Georgia Perimeter pair wins GJCAA honors

The Georgia Perimeter College softball team had two players earn Georgia Junior College Athletic Association awards.

Former Eastside star Heather Hodge was named to the GJCAA Second-Team All-Region roster, while former Newton standout Nichole Stanford was named to the GJCAA All-Tournament Team.


Allen, Dooley named to All-Region XVII Team

South Georgia's Kyle Allen and Darton's Trent Dooley were selected to the Georgia Junior College Athletic Association's 2008 Region XVII All-Conference Team.

Allen, a sophomore, was a first-team selection after hitting .317 with 44 runs, 60 hits, 14 doubles and 40 RBIs. The former Salem standout also recorded 19 stolen bases.

Dooley, a freshman from Heritage, hit .387 for Darton with 63 hits, 38 runs and 37 RBIs.
