Teen charged in alleged assaults
Alcovy student faces two counts of sexual battery from incidents

COVINGTON - A 17-year-old Alcovy High School student has been charged with two counts of sexual battery after two female students told the school resource officer that he had assaulted them, according to the Newton County Sheriff's Office.

Tenth-grade student Stephen Thomas Warren, 17, of 870 Fincher Road, was arrested and escorted from the school campus May 5, according to an NCSO incident report completed by Deputy Danny Peppers.

Investigator Sharron Stewart said a 15-year-old student told investigators that Warren hit her repeatedly on the chest, leaving swelling and bruises on her breasts, that one of her breasts was bleeding and that there were three red, swollen fingerprint marks on her breasts.

Stewart said the girl said the incident occurred in her fifth period class and that "the coach told him to stop during class."

The second student, a 16-year-old girl who came with the 15-year-old to report the incident, also alleged that Warren had bitten her on the breast another day.

"Both of the girls are fine and are back in school." said Newton County School System's Public Relations Director Sherri Viniard, adding that disciplinary action was pending against Warren. "We take allegations of this nature very seriously. The safety and well-being of our students is our primary concern."
