COVINGTON - The Newton County Recreation Commission and Georgia DNR-Fishery Division recently hosted a Kids Fishing Event at Turner Lake Park.
The event drew approximately 100 children, age 16 and under. A total of 84 fish, weighing more than 94 pounds in all, were caught. The children were divided into three age groups: six and under, 10 and under, and 16 and under. Winners in each age group took home fishing rods courtesy of Newton County Recreation Commission. Here are the results listed by age: · Six and Under: Largest - Austin Blake; Smallest - Gage Peavey; Most - Olivia Pausche; No Catch - Brady Foster · 10 and Under: Largest - Steven Waters; Smallest - Cameron League; Most - Nakeisha Watson; No Catch - Jacquelyn Graves · 16 and Under: Largest - Cade Brazelton; Smallest - Erron Wite; Most - David Burden; No Catch - Dakota Mobley A Father/Child Fishing Day is planned for June 14 at Turner Lake.
