JEFFERSON - Rockdale's Lavon Allen and Eastside's Dominique Hubert made some heads turn at the Class AAAA boys state track and field championships at Memorial Stadium.
Allen took runner-up honors in the long jump with a distance of 23 feet, 11 inches and a fourth place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 46-11.25.
Hubert had two third-place finishes in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
The Eastside sprinter ran the 100 in 10.70 seconds, .07 seconds faster than his qualifying time, and completed the 200 in 21.82 seconds.
Allen missed bringing home the gold in the long jump by less than two inches as state champion Stephen Hill of Miller Grove took the event with a jump of 24-0.5.
In the triple jump, Allen's jump was the same distance as third-placer Patrick Jenkins of Statesboro, who reached it in fewer attempts.
The Eastside 400 relay team, which was made up on Antarious Terrell, Jamario Parks, Karl Williams and Hubert, took sixth place in the event with a time of 42.20 seconds.
The four qualified for the race with a time of 42.53 seconds.
Also participating in the final day of events Saturday, but not placing, was Eastside's Charlie Jones in the 800.
Jones earned his way to the final day by qualifying with a time of 2 minutes, 2.23 seconds.
Heritage's Reggie Juin missed qualifying Friday for the 200, finishing the event in 22.20 seconds, less than 0.1 seconds needed for the qualifying time.
In the field events held Thursday, Heritage's Mikel Hunter placed in the high jump clearing 6 feet, 2 inches for fifth place.
Also participating, but not earning points for the Patriots, were Shuaib Winters and Morgan Tabb.
Winters ran the 1,600 meters in 4:37.84 for a 12th-place finish, while Tabb cleared a height of 12 feet in the pole vault for seventh place.
In Class AAAAA, neither Tyler Ransom nor Travis Knight of Newton were able to crack the top six for a medal in their event.
Ransom came close with a seventh-place finish in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 11-feet.
Knight, who won the Region 2-AAAAA 3,200-meter run, could only manage a 12th-place finish with a time of 11:19.94.
