LOGANVILLE - Loganville scored a season-high six runs in Region 8-AAAA play against Heritage, but it wasn't enough Wednesday.
The Patriots (10-2 overall, 10-0 in Region 8-AAAA) scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth, rallying from a 5-3 deficit to claim a 12-6 victory over the Red Devils. Ryan Jubran and Anthony Bazzani opened the top of the fifth with back-to-back doubles for the Patriots. Ryan Cochran followed with a single and Nick Matteen delivered a triple down the left-field line. After an intentional walk to Tyler Austin, Travis Tarleton followed with a single and Chunk Smith delivered a double. The Patriots added three more in the top of the sixth. Offensively, Austin paced Heritage with a 2-for-2 effort at the plate, which included two solo home runs, three intentional walks and four runs. Tarleton was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Jubran was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Matteen was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Scott Korczyk got the win in relief for the Patriots, going 32/3 innings and giving up one run.More like this story
