COVINGTON - Covington authorities are seeking information leading to the whereabouts of a man who reportedly groped a woman's breasts in the parking lot of Newton Medical Center during the early morning hours Sunday.
According to Lt. Wendell Wagstaff, spokesman for the Covington Police Department, the victim, whose husband had been admitted to the hospital, was walking through the parking lot to her car to get something about 12:30 a.m., when she noticed that she was being followed. "She asked (the suspect) if he needed something ... and then he got real close to her and took his hand and groped her upper chest on her breasts," Wagstaff said. Though she initially saw two officers and thought about screaming, the victim reportedly decided to call 911 after the suspect fled toward the area of U.S. Highway 278. Officers checked the area and spoke with several people, but no one reported seeing the suspect, who was described as a black man wearing bluejean shorts and a white shirt. Police ask anyone with information as to the whereabouts or identity of the suspect to call the CPD at 770-786-7605.
