Participants in the third annual gathering of what has become known as the Black Easter March of 1970 gathered in the Covington Square Park on Sunday afternoon. Leaders from state and local government, as well as community leaders, heard from those who recalled their experiences at the civil rights march that took place 38 years ago. The theme for the event was "You Are Your Brothers and Sisters Keeper." It was organized by Forrest Sawyer and the African-American Historical Association of Newton County.More like this story
