Eastside's Smith matches school record in win

COVINGTON - The Eastside boys golf team not only improved its record to 6-1, but it did so by posting its lowest score of the season, beating Heritage 155-173 on Tuesday at Indian Creek. Monroe Area was a distant third.

Taylor Smith led the Eagles once again by matching his school record for nine holes with a 33. The other Eastside scores were turned in by Tate Miller with a 38, Ace Cook with a 41 and J.T. Blaker with a 43.

Heritage tennis squads shut out Alcovy

CONYERS - The Heritage tennis squads continued their dominance in Region 8-AAAA South on Tuesday, chalking up a pair of 5-0 wins over the visiting Alcovy Tigers.

In the boys match, Heritage's Jonathan Stone won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Zach Landy rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 and Michael Knowlton prevailed 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3.

In doubles play, Brad Hardin and Blake Craft chalked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1, while J.J. Ramsey and Jacob Zirbel cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2.

In the girls match, Heritage's Taylor Maloney rolled 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Stephanie Humphries won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 and Keeli Smith strolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3.

In doubles, the Heritage duos lost only one game. Liz Forrester and Amanda Voyles won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, while Callie Alford and Brooke Craft prevailed 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2.

Lady Rams stay unbeaten against region competition

McDONOUGH - Newton's Lynea Fouser scored the game's only goal, giving the Lady Rams soccer team a 1-0 win over host Luella on Tuesday.

Fouser scored the goal on a free kick at the 17:06 mark of the first half.

Newton improved its record to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in Region 2-AAAAA to remain one game behind Union Grove.

Rockdale boys tennis sweeps Eastside 5-0

COVINGTON - The Rockdale boys tennis team swept host Eastside 5-0 Tuesday.

In singles, Rockdale's David McCalley won his match 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1, Pathya Kunthy prevailed 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2, while Sam Brotherton prevailed 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.

In doubles action, the team of Andrew Stover and Steven Rouk collected a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1, while Mitch Grande and Jarren Clark won 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 at No. 2.
