Eagles place second in three-team golf match at Long Shadow course

MADISON - The Eastside boys golf team finished second in a three-team match with Morgan County and Athens Academy on Thursday at Long Shadow Golf Course.

The Eagles finished with a team score of 162, which 14 strokes more than Athens Academy in first place at 148. Morgan County was third at 211.The Athens Academy boys have won the Class A tournament six of the last seven years.

Leading the Eagles were Taylor Smith and Ace Cook, who both shot 38s. J.T. Blaker (42) and Nick Green (44) rounded out the Eagles' scores.

"The kids played very well on a course they had never seen before, and I am very proud of them," Eastside boys coach Jay Cawthon said.

The next match for the Eagles is Monday against Salem at Highland.
