COVINGTON - Thieves made off with 11 different firearms when a residence on Ga. Highway 36 was burglarized Wednesday afternoon.
The owner discovered that the guns were missing shortly after he arrived home just before 2 p.m. The firearms were reportedly worth more than $3,000, according to a Newton County Sheriff's Office incident report completed by Deputy Kelly Singley. According to Investigator Sharron Stewart, spokeswoman for the NCSO, numerous items inside the residence had been rifled through. Stewart said that anyone who would take this many firearms would more than likely look to pawn them or trade them for drugs. Authorities ask that anyone with information about this case to call the NCSO at 678-625-1403.
