CONYERS - Even if you've never shot an eagle, or even a birdie, you and other area golfers are invited to participate in this year's Cherry Blossom Charity Golf Tourney.
The annual event, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Rockdale County, is aimed at raising money to provide Christmas presents for 100 needy children in the community.
According to Harry Holden with the Kiwanis Club, the organization raises money each year to take about 40 low-income children, normally identified by the Department of Family and Children Services, on a shopping spree for Christmas.
The Cherry Blossom Charity Golf Tourney will be held March 28 at Honey Creek Golf Club. Lunch is scheduled for
11 a.m. and tee-off will be at noon. The format will be a four-person Lauderdale, or best ball, and entry fee includes lunch, driving range balls, greens fee and cart. Prizes will be awarded for longest drive and the shot closest to the pin. Anyone hitting a hole-in-one has a chance to win a new car.
The cost to participate is $75 per person. Sponsorships are also available. In the event of rain, the golf tournament will be rescheduled for April 4.
