City of Covington firefighter Alan Stoud is taking part in a 31/2 -minute drill to establish a water supply from this fire hydrant to the ladder truck. Every second counts when fighting a fire, and constant practice enables firefighters to make the best use of the few minutes they have to bring a fire under control. This and other drills were ongoing last week at the former Willowbend apartment complex on Ga. Highway 142, which firefighters are using for practice before demolition makes way for new development. Deputy Chief of Training David Gunner and Battalion Chief Steve Jones were conducting this drill.
