HAMPTON - Covington's Kyle Lowry and Oxford's Randy Thornton started the 2008 Thursday Thunder series with first- and second-place finishes in their divisions at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Lowry took advantage of a collision between leader Zac Kittle (Watkinsville) and Ryan Gandee (McDonough) in the seventh lap. From there, Lowry held off the rest of the pack for the remaining 14 laps for his first Thursday Thunder pro feature win. In the masters division, Thornton was able to take the lead from Jim Daniel on the first lap. He held the lead until the ninth lap when Skip Nichols of Albany jumped in front of the line and pulled away from the field to win the race.More like this story
